Meet Outpost The Hague team

Karen Goodman (American)
Focal Point

Karen joined the Outpost The Hague Relocation team in March 2008. Prior to moving to The Hague, she lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for four years with her husband and two children. She has a Bachelor of Science in Geology and was employed for a seismic processing company. Upon completion of her Master of Business Administration degree, Karen joined a large multinational bank financing commercial real estate deals in the United States.

Jessey Ding (Malaysian)
Administrative Assistant

Jessey Ding joined Outpost The Hague in June 2010. She moved to the Netherlands in September 2009 to be with her Dutch partner. Jessey is a chartered accountant with a diploma in copywriting and work experience in the education, audit, advertising and administration sector. She loves food, books, and computer games. Always open to learn new things, she is currently following a Dutch course, freelancing as a writer, volunteering in an online travel forum and thinking about starting a food blog.

Marja Chapman (Dutch)
Adviser

Marja joined Outpost The Hague in April 2008 after having returned to The Netherlands at the end of 2007. She worked in insurance when she left Holland in 1982 and moved to Ivory Coast. More postings followed and she has lived in Burundi, Cameroon, Indonesia, Brazil, UK (2x), Bangladesh and China.
While abroad she worked for International Dutch companies as well as for the Dutch Embassy and has been very active in expatriate organisations around the world. Her main interests are golf, tennis and cryptic crosswords.

Kanchan Khatri-Arora (Indian)
Adviser

Kanchan joined the Outpost the Hague team in March 2009. She moved to the Netherlands in Jan 2008 following her marriage and has been living here since then. Prior to moving to Netherlands, she lived in New Delhi (India). She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Knitwear Design and technology and a Bachelor of Science in Physics. She has worked for four years in India with a window decoration manufacturing company. Her main interests are traveling, fitness and watching movies.

Margaret Ogunmefun (Nigerian)
Adviser

Margaret moved to the Hague from Port Harcourt (Nigeria), with her husband and son in December 2006. Her background is in secretarial and Public Administration. She has worked with various organizations to plan and implement programs for individuals and groups from different ethnic and professional backgrounds. After completing a course in teaching English as a foreign language, she worked with language centers as a freelance English teacher for companies in the Netherlands. She is currently pursuing a degree in English language and literature. She lived and grew-up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loves to teach, read, sing, and play tennis.

Tanu Shukla (Indian)
Adviser

Tanu Shukla moved to The Netherlands in April 2007 with her husband. She has done her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and Master in Healthcare Administration. Tanu previously worked as a clinician, an academic coordinator, as a teacher in a medical college and most recently as a hospital administrator. She loves to cook , travel and spend time with her friends and family.

Irene Schavemaker (Dutch)

Irene Schavemaker (Dutch), Adviser/Careers & Development
Irene repatriated to the Netherlands in 2007. She has a background in Economics and International Human Resources. Irene has first hand exposure to pursuing employment opportunities overseas in her expatriate postings in London and Muscat. In Oman she worked with Outpost Muscat and gained skills and knowledge, which proved to be transferable to her current position with Outpost The Hague. In January 2008 Irene joined the Careers and Development team and enjoys assisting expatriate and repatriate partners finding their way in the Dutch employment and study market.

Julia Kohnert (British)
Adviser/Careers & Development

Julia moved to The Hague in January 2002. She has lived in Lowestoft, Oman, Aberdeen Australia and France. Julia has a background in strategic planning and health service management. Moving around the world has encouraged Julia to develop a more portable portfolio of skills including teaching English as a foreign language and retraining as a psychotherapist, counselling skills trainer and supervisor. Julia has been a life long student and is about to complete a Masters in health psychology at Leiden University. She is a fluent French speaker and loves to play tennis, walk, garden and read in her spare time. Julia is married and has two teenage sons and a dog. Julia joined Outpost The Hague in March 2009.

Laia Auge Poch (Spanish)
Adviser/Careers & Development

Laia moved to The Hague in January 2007 with her family. She has previously lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. Laia is a Social Anthropologist and she specialized on global migration by completing a Masters on Migration Studies. She has experience working in non-profit organizations implementing and managing projects. She believes that everyone should be given a chance to achieve their potential, and she enjoys assisting people to do so. She also loves the sea and sailing.
